Physical Activity at Chilton Foliat Primary School

"Activity, Sustainability, Community'

Chilton Foliat Church of England VA Primary School has a positive, inclusive and proactive approach to all things “Sport”

The PE and Sport Premium is government funding provided to primary schools to improve the quality of physical education, sport and physical activity for all pupils. At Chilton Foliat our aim is to develop lifelong healthy lifestyles, increase participation in physical activity, improve staff confidence and expertise, and provide a wide range of sporting opportunities for all children.

During 2025-26, a significant proportion of our Sports Premium funding supported the successful launch of Forest School provision. This included staff training, the development of outdoor learning opportunities for every year group, and the continuation of our targeted Nature and Nurture programme. Forest School has increased pupils' physical activity levels, developed fundamental movement skills, enhanced wellbeing and resilience, and broadened opportunities for children to engage in active outdoor learning. The investment has also built staff expertise, ensuring the programme's sustainability and long-term impact across the school.

We are also delighted to announce that, in recognition of our commitment to providing high-quality physical education, sport and physical activity opportunities, Chilton Foliat Primary School has been awarded the School Games Gold Mark Award for 2025-2026. This prestigious award recognises the school's dedication to increasing participation in sport, promoting healthy and active lifestyles, and providing inclusive opportunities for all pupils to engage in competitive and non-competitive physical activities. The award reflects the enthusiasm of our pupils, the commitment of our staff and the strong culture of physical activity that has been developed across the school.
